Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White came in second in the 2017 NFL Rookie of the Year voting to fellow cornerback Marshon Lattimore of the New Orleans Saints. Lattimore was the 11th pick in the draft and helped turn around an atrocious Saints defense into a strength of the squad.
Buffalo could have picked Lattimore, but traded their 2017 first round NFL Draft pick to the Kansas City Chiefs and moved down from the number 10 spot to 27 while gaining a third round pick in 2017 (used to trade up for receiver Zay Jones) and a 2018 first round pick.
Lattimore ran away with the award, tallying 45 of the 50 votes from sportswriters around the NFL. White earned 4 votes and San Francisco 49ers linebacker earned one vote.
Lattimore finished with five interceptions, one forced fumble, one recovered fumble, 52 tackles and a touchdown. White had similar stats with four interceptions, one forced fumble, two recovered fumbles, 69 tackles, and a touchdown. Unfortunately for White, Lattimore made the Pro Bowl and won the Rookie of the Year award and White was shut out in both honors.
