With the exception of Preston Brown, Kyle Williams, and a few others, most of the Buffalo Bills twenty-two free agents have yet to sign new contracts with teams. After last week’s frenzy of signings, Bills fans should expect to see more and more of those players begin to garner interest on the market and get offered new deals.
According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, one of those twenty-two free agents, wide receiver Deonte Thompson, has already had discussions with Bills brass about re-signing with the team.
After joining the Bills last year during the bye week, Thompson immediately was thrust into the lineup and managed to catch 27 passes for 430 yards during the next eleven games. The speedy 29-year-old wideout proved to be a capable deep threat at the position, something the team was clearly lacking in the first five games of the season.
Unfortunately for the Bills, both the Dallas Cowboys and the Denver Broncos are also interested in competing for Thompson’s services, as indicated by Garafolo.
Thompson’s main attraction might have been Tyrod Taylor, who he knew from their time with the Baltimore Ravens. With Taylor gone, it’s anyone’s guess where Thompson will end up.
