Buffalo Bills wide receiver Zay Jones arrested in bizarre Los Angeles incident

The report from TMZ says he was arrested for felony vandalism.

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Zay Jones has been arrested in Los Angeles, according to a report from TMZ. Jones, a second round pick of the Bills in 2017, is being charged with felony vandalism after breaking a window Monday night and leaving a trail of blood from the cuts he received. In California, it’s considered felony vandalism when you cause more than $400 worth of damage.

“The penalties for vandalism in this case may include a jail sentence of between one and three years and/or a fine of up to ten thousand dollars, or even more if the damage is very extensive.”

The penalties can also be lower. With Jones’ money, it would seem likely he could pay for a new window and the cleanup and not face jail time. He’s currently being held on $20,000 bail according to WKBW’s Ashley Rowe.

Jones is being treated at USC Medical Center according to Rowe and it’s unclear what caused the incident. In a video purportedly showing a naked Zay arguing with his brother, Cayleb Jones of the Minnesota Vikings, you can see the moments leading up to the smash of the window and hear a female screaming.

“We are aware of the incident involving Zay Jones. We are still in the process of gathering more information on the matter. At this point, we will have no further comment,” said a statement from the Bills.

We will have more information as it becomes available.

UPDATE: Jones has been released from police custody. More information in our new article.
