Holding two first-round picks in the same year gives any team the perfect opportunity to trade up in the draft. However, trading next year’s first could be in the mix for the Buffalo Bills rather than the 22nd overall pick this year.
On March 23rd’s episode of The Bills Beat with Joe B. and Matthew Fairburn, the two briefly touch on a scenario in which the Bills may have the possibility to keep the 22nd pick in the 2018 NFL draft. If the Bills’ move into the top five is going to cost two first-rounders and then some, would both of those first rounders be in this year’s draft?
There is a possibility a team like the New York Giants or Cleveland Browns would rather have the Bills’ 2019 first-round pick than the 22nd this year. The Bills may regress and miss the playoffs next season, making their first selection next year higher than the 22nd pick this year. Either way, the Bills could trade one or the other to move up and get their quarterback.
