Trent Murphy returns to practice, and other Buffalo Bills injury updates

New, comments

The Bills were mostly unscathed after their first preseason game.

The Buffalo Bills had a mostly healthy finish to their preseason loss against the Carolina Panthers, with no long-term injuries emerging from the match. In the aftermath of that game, the biggest news is that free agent signing Trent Murphy, who wasn’t able to play Thursday night, returned to practicing with the team the following day.

Big-money offseason signing Star Lotulelei (back) was the most significant player to suffer an injury during Thursday’s game, but head coach Sean McDermott announced that all of the game’s injuries were of the day-to-day variety. Wideout Brandon Reilly injured his ribs last night, and defensive tackle John Hughes hurt his groin.

With Murphy’s return to practice, that leaves Zay Jones and Cam Phillips, who are still working back to practice. Jones is still in a red no-contact jersey, but Phillips may be close to action, participating in limited work with the team on Friday.
