Star Loutulelei was a priority free agent signing for the Buffalo Bills this year and a story out of training camp should show you the reason why. He exudes the process head coach Sean McDermott preaches every day to his team.
Lotulelei was dinged up in last Thursday’s preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers, and was dealing with a minor back injury. When he was cleared to return to practice, several other Bills defensive tackles were also on the shelf.
“He was a little dinged up a couple days ago and he missed a practice,” defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier told the media Tuesday. “He came back and we had him on a ‘work at your own pace’ type of thing. Star went to our defensive line coach and said ‘You know what? I am going to try to take a few reps. I don’t want these guys to take all of these reps.’”
Lotulelei didn’t want the other tackles to be gassed, so he took reps in camp to give them a breather.
At the defensive tackle position, Marquavious Lewis is still out while the Bills released John Hughes and signed Tyrunn Walker due to the injuries across the position group.
