Buffalo Bills vs. Carolina Panthers: Backups Open Thread

A positive first quarter for Nathan Peterman, as the Bills backups on both sides of the ball now take to the field.

Bills quarterback Nathan Peterman has to be pleased after that impressive quarter of preseason action. After finally being declared the starting quarterback tonight, Peterman’s first drive was a relatively clean one that resulted in a beautiful touchdown pass to Kelvin Benjamin. The Peterman-Benjamin connection was particularly fruitful during the scoring drive, as the 6’5” receiver physically dominated former Buffalo Bill Kevon Seymour. The former Pitt quarterback was just as accurate and decisive on his second drive of the game, which unfortunately ended in an interception off a tipped pass by backup running back Chris Ivory.

The starters on defense were a bit sloppier with several missed tackles, blown assignments and general mistakes leading to a sustained Panthers touchdown drive. Tremaine Edmunds appeared to struggle with some mental lapses.

It’s a 7-7 game as AJ McCarron now takes the field for his audition to be the starting quarterback along with the rest of the Bills second string. Keep it here at Buffalo Rumblings and leave your comments below!
