Shaq Lawson, Taron Johnson will not play in Buffalo Bills vs LA Chargers

Both teams are out multiple starters on Sunday.

Starting defensive end Shaq Lawson and rookie nickel cornerback Taron Johnson will be inactive on Sunday as both Buffalo Bills recover from injuries sustained in the season opener. Lawson (hamstring) and Johnson (shoulder) weren’t able to practice in any of the days leading up to the game against the LA Chargers, making this an expected report from One Bills Drive. This means the Bills will be using a lot more Trent Murphy, Phillip Gaines, and (possibly) Vontae Davis this week.

Rookie receiver Ray-Ray McCloud, who missed the season opener rehabbing a preseason knee injury, finally returned to practice in a limited fashion on Friday. He’s listed as questionable, but it would be surprising to see him return to action with so little preparation. Backup linebacker Julian Stanford (nose) was a full participant all week, and should see the field for the first time this year.

For the Chargers, star edge rusher Joey Bosa (foot) was already declared out on Thursday. Right tackle Joe Barksdale (knee) and backup cornerback Craig Mager (hamstring) are also out. Receiver Travis Benjamin, who missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, is listed as questionable, with Anthony Lynn “very optimistic” he would play.
