Buffalo Bills sign OL Ruben Holcomb, DL Robert Thomas to practice squad

With these signings, the practice squad is full.

On Monday morning the Buffalo Bills announced two more signings for their practice squad, filling up the list along with the eight internal signings the team made over the weekend. Offensive lineman Ruben Holcomb, who had been playing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and defensive tackle Robert Thomas, who spent the summer with the New York Giants, are now part of the Bills organization.

Thomas is the longer-tenured player, originally going undrafted in 2014 before finding room as a reserve with the Giants. The 6’1” 316 pound nose guard had a strong preseason, with six tackles and two sacks. Last season, he played 15 games for New York, with 16 tackles, three which qualified as “stops” in the run game.

Holcomb is an undrafted rookie from Division II University of Indianapolis. Standing 6’4” 320 pounds, Holcomb was a 44-game starter at UIndy, and started every game at left tackle last season. His natural position is more likely left guard, given his height-weight combo. We can’t know for certain, but Holcomb may be a stand-in for two Bills offensive linemen who didn’t last through waivers: Ike Boettger and Adam Redmond.
