It’s January of 2019, and the Buffalo Bills playoff drought sits at [checks watch] one season. It’s a tough road, knowing the Bills won’t be suiting up at all for another few months, but we will soldier on.
Today, Bills fans will get to watch some playoff football with decidedly lower stakes than last year’s contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars. (It should hopefully be more entertaining than that 10-3 game, too.)
Feel free to chat about today in the comments below. Here’s your viewing info and Bills connections:
Los Angeles Chargers at Baltimore Ravens
1:05 p.m. Eastern
Former Bills interim head coach Anthony Lynn leads the Chargers into Baltimore this weekend. Buffalo chose Sean McDermott over the Rex Ryan disciple in 2017, but Lynn was able to land the Chargers coaching job immediately after. The only Bills player on the Chargers is quarterback Cardale Jones, who sits on the practice squad. WRs coach Phil McGeoghan spent 2017 in the same position in Buffalo, while DL coach Giff Smith was with the Bills from 2010 to 2012 in that capacity.
Former Bills offensive coordinator Greg Roman is the assistant head coach in Baltimore. Their offensive line coach is former Bills OL coach Joe D’Alessandris.
Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears
4:40 p.m. Eastern
Linebacker Nigel Bradham and cornerback Corey Graham went to Philadelphia in free agency over the last couple years to play with former Bills defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz. Left tackle Jason Peters was traded to Philly years ago and is still playing at a high level. Cornerback Ronald Darby is on injured reserve after being traded to the Eagles before the 2017 season.
Eagles coach Matt Nagy coached with Sean McDermott in Philadelphia, and defensive end Khalil Mack went to the University at Buffalo, but no Bears have Bills connections.
