Harrison Phillips and Bills Run Defense Since He Has Been Out

Ever since he has been out, which I believe is for the season, our run defense has gone extremely downhill.I know he was a rotational player but he was extremely effective and I don't think this hass been addressed enough. He is a great player and was able to learn a lot from Kyle Williams during the time they played together.

I know they ended up picking up a couple DTs after the trade deadline but with the record they had and the picks they have stock pilled and the cap room they have I think that Beane made a mistake by not going out and trying to get another run stopping DT before the deadline, that could have made a bigger difference. With the record they had if he could have gotten a decent run stopping DT and another CB for the defense I think this was the time to do it.

After the Miami game teams learned they could run on the Bills and they needed to make adjustments to stop that and waiting one more year and getting Harrison Phillips back healthy next year and adding another solid corner along side Tre and Levi would have gone a long way to making this a year they could have not just made the playoffs but competed in them.

I know everyone had worries about Allen (who doesn't) but he has proven that if the defense keeps them close he can get those the quarter wins. I just don't see why Beane wanted to seemingly wait another year to make this happen unless he thinks Brady won't be with the the Pats next year and they can win the division which I think is a big long shot.

Would love to hear others thoughts on this!
