Buffalo Bills cornerback Tre’Davious White was named to ESPN.com staff writer Bill Barnwell’s All-Pro team at the midpoint of the 2019 season, joining Stephon Gilmore and Richard Sherman. White was the only Bill to make the list, and has received accolades for his shut-down play. On the season, White has managed to play in 99% of the team’s defensive snaps, while forcing five turnovers and recording his first sack.
Selected in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft when the Bills made a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs to move back, White has been a starter on defense since day one. Against the Miami Dolphins in Week 6 this season, he was instrumental in securing the win for the Bills by forcing turnovers on consecutive drives while deep in the shadow of the Bills’ end zone. His interception of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton in the final seconds secured the team’s early-season home win. Last week, against Washington, White recorded his first career sack when he brought down quarterback Dwayne Haskins.
Tre’Davious White is in the midst of another stellar year—one with Pro Bowl potential. If his shutdown play continues, more national outlets may begin discussing his name among the league’s elite corners.
