Buffalo Sabres move Saturday game start to avoid Buffalo Bills game

One Buffalo Weekend!

Matt Warren is Associate Director of NFL coverage for SB Nation and previously covered the Bills for Buffalo Rumblings for more than a decade.

It’s gonna be a One Buffalo Weekend and the Buffalo Sabres are moving their game time to make sure of it.

On Monday, the Sabres announced they were moving their game from Saturday night at 7:00 PM Eastern to an afternoon start time of 1:00 PM. That’s because the Buffalo Bills were scheduled into the 4:30 PM Eastern time slot for their Wild Card playoff game.

“We are happy to announce this start time change so that all of our fans can enjoy the Buffalo Bills playoff game on Jan. 4 after our Sabres game,” said Bills and Sabres Co-Owner and President Kim Pegula. “Buffalo has a great tradition of all of our teams and fans supporting each other, and we want to make sure we can accommodate everyone the best way possible. We would like to thank the Florida Panthers organization for their understanding and willingness to change the start time.”

The Bills and Sabres are both owned by Kim Pegula and her husband, Terry, along with several other Buffalo-based sports teams and businesses.
