Former Buffalo Bills coach Chan Gailey named Miami Dolphins offensive coordinator

Back in the AFC East.

The Miami Dolphins have made a change at offensive coordinator and it’s a familiar face to the AFC East. Chan Gailey, former Buffalo Bills head coach and New York Jets offensive coordinator, will be the offensive coordinator in South Beach in 2020.

From 2010-2012, Gailey accumulated a 16-32 record in Buffalo as head coach with Ryan Fitzpatrick starting 53 of those games at quarterback. Fitzpatrick is in Miami for one more season and the pair were together with the Jets in 2015 and 2016.

The Dolphins moved on from Chad O’Shea after just one season. O’Shea was the New England Patriots’ wide receivers coach previously and came to Miami with head coach Brian Flores.

This will be Gailey’s tenth season as an NFL OC after stints with the Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers, Miami Dolphins, Kansas City Chiefs, and Jets. He also called plays while head coach of the Bills and Dallas Cowboys.
