Draft Day Risks

First let me say I love the days leading up to the draft. So fun trying to figure out who is going to take whom. Which players are the right fit for your team, etc.

Everyone has favorite who they love, but let's be honest deep down everyone see plays that they just hope their team doesn't take because they just foresee Bust Potential.

So my question for my fellow rumbles. Who is the player or who are the players that you think won't cut it at the NFL level? Who do you see as the Future Busts of the draft.

Here is my take on this. To truly be a bust, or a bust candidate, the player has to be considered a 1st or 2nd round prospect or at the very least the top guy at their positional group. These types of evaluations can really bring out people. because in order to be a "bust" candidate they have to be considered highly by lots of people.

So for me the guys at the top of my list and why.

Kyler Murray - QB - sure this kid could very well be the #1 pick in the draft. For me it's a combination of a lot of factors. His size, let's not forget that there has not been a single successful quarterback in the NFL playing at both his height and weight. There is also 1 year as a starter playing behind one of the most dominate offensive lines in the NCAA. The kid has not faced a ton of pressure, and in the times he has been hit, he has missed a play or two shortly after. Both are red flags to me. Baseball sure he has pulled back, but that is still out there, where is his passion really at. If it's at where is he going to get the most money, he won't be successful long term. Too many red flags for me. Also just to be fully fair, I would not take any of this years QB's in round 1.

Josh Jacobs - RB - now sitting on top of most lists as the best running back in the draft. Here is the thing. He wasn't the starter in college he played for Alabama. That was Damion Harris. His numbers were not better (average YPC etc.) than Harris. Much like Murray listed above. Alabama has an amazing offensive line, so good in fact that I believe it hides some of the Alabama running backs limitations. Next up is that he is an Alabama Running back. I hate hate hate when people put down promising players because they played at a certain school. However in the recent history Alabama has been loaded with Top talent running backs who have simply not performed in the NFL. Trent Richardson, Eddie Lacy, T.J. Yeldon, Derrick Henry, Bo Scarboro, Kenyan Drake, Mark Ingram. These are the guys going back to what 2010 not counting Scaroboro who was a late round pick each of these guys were first 3 rounds. None are considered in the top 20 of running backs in the NFL, lost of promise though right.

The last of my list is

Montez Sweat - he is climbing up everyone's boards, guy is lighting fast. but outside of speed I am not sure what he brings in terms of the total pass rush package. I think he is going to get drafted higher than he should and I think he is going to disappoint the team that takes him, mostly because the expectations are going to be too high.

So again I don't wish ill for any of these guys. I hope each one ends up in the Hall of Fame. But these are the high picks that concern me the most.

Who is on your list and why?

Just another great fan opinion shared on the pages of BuffaloRumblings.com.
