Over the last two months, we’ve been running a series of articles on Buffalo Rumblings detailing possible veteran cuts the Buffalo Bills could make this offseason. As we approach the beginning of free agency, here’s the full list as well as how fans voted in the polls.
Tier 1 - Pretty safe
DE Jerry Hughes
K Stephen Hauschka
The highest number we have ever had in one of these polls, 98% of voters wanted Hughes back in 2019. In fact, 75% of total voters wanted to give him a contract extension that we laid out. After his season was derailed by injury, 97% of Bills fans want Hauschka back in 2019. A large chunk want to give him a contract extension, too.
Tier 2 - Probably safe
OC Russell Bodine
DE Trent Murphy
At 79% keep, Bills fans want Bodine on the roster but 77% also want the Bills to add competition or a replacement for the team’s top center. Murphy was signed last year, but 84% of voters want him to stick around.
Tier 3 - On the bubble
RB Chris Ivory
FB Patrick DiMarco
While 57% of Bills fans want to keep Ivory, it would’t be difficult to move on from the veteran. DiMarco squeaked in above the halfway mark at 51%, but his special-teams contributions, where he played the fourth-most snaps on the team, should keep him on the team in 2019.
Tier 4 - Tenuous spot
RB LeSean McCoy
OG Vlad Ducasse
McCoy only convinced 45% of Bills fans that he should be back for the 2019 season, but the Bills’ decision makers have given him several votes of confidence this offseason. They’d also say that if they wanted to drum up some trade interest, though. Ducasse began the 2018 season as the team’s starting guard but was eventually replaced. Bills fans want him completely off the roster, with only 32% wanting to keep him.
Tier 5 - Already cut
TE Charles Clay
The writing was on the wall for Clay and only 16% of Bills fans wanted to see him stick around for 2019.
