Buffalo Bills hosting CB Hamp Cheevers on pre-draft visit

The lanky and athletic Boston College product is a ball-hawk.

Looking to potentially add another athletic piece to their secondary, the Buffalo Bills have been linked to Hamp Cheevers, Boston College’s ball-hawking cornerback.

According to Bills’ beat reporter Sal Capaccio, the Bills are hosting Cheevers on a pre-draft visit.

Cheevers came down with seven interceptions during his junior season with the Eagles in 2018, which was tied for the most in all of FBS. He added 39 tackles with seven pass breakups, one forced fumble, and one fumble recovery to earn third-team Associated Press All-American honors and first-team All-ACC honors in his one season as a full-time starter in Chestnut Hill.

A quick and athletic cornerback—Cheevers is listed at 5-foot-9 and 169 pounds—he averaged 19.3 yards per return on his interceptions, including an 81-yard pick-six during a Week 2 win over Holy Cross.

Cheevers came away with interceptions in three of BC’s first five games, and finished the year strong with interceptions in four of the Eagles’ final six games.

He is projected to be drafted as a slot cornerback, and is expected to be taken during Day 3 of the draft—held April 25-27 in Nashville, Tenn.
