Voice of the Buffalo Bills, John Murphy, to be enshrined in Buffalo Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame

New, comments

Buffalo Broadcasters will honor the radio personality.

Buffalo Bills play by play announcer John Murphy will be inducted into the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame, honoring his career in radio and calling Bills games since 2004. Murphy has been a favorite for his passionate calls during the games and the passion he has for the team and the City of Buffalo.

Murphy also hosts One Bills Live, a daily show during the week to keep fans up to date with everything going on with the Bills. Before the Bills, Murphy was a sports director at radio station WBEN from 1984-1992. While the award is specifically for his work in radio, “Murph” was also a sports anchor at WKBW, which was Western New York’s most popular newscast at the time, before moving to WIVB channel 4.

In an interview with Buffalo Rumblings last year, he detailed the extensive work that goes into preparing the broadcast. Take for example Wednesday and Thursday, where he spends endless hours watching previous games of the Buffalo Bills’ upcoming opponent to know what to expect.

Congratulations John, you deserve it. The induction ceremony will be held Sept. 27
