Per Dov Kleinman via Twitter, the Buffalo Bills have added newly acquired running back Frank Gore to the non-football injury list or “NFI.” Though the nature of the injury is unknown at this time, John Wawrow is reporting that the issue is “minor.” Wawrow cites “a person familiar with Gore’s situation.”
Tyler Kroft and Jeremiah Sirles were also added to the physically-unable-to-play list or “PUP.” Kroft was injured during training camp when he re-broke a previously injured foot. With the timeline for that injury expected to keep him out possibly extending into the season, Kroft’s addition is no surprise.
The NFI and PUP rules are fairly similar with the exception of how injuries occurred. PUP injuries are related to team/football activities and NFI are outside of work. Players count toward the active roster but can be cleared and return to the field at any time.
Keep your eyes peeled this way for updates as more information is known.
