Following an ankle injury that ended offensive tackle Garrett McGhin’s day against the Carolina Panthers, the Buffalo Bills have placed McGhin on injured reserve. In a corresponding roster move, the team has signed offensive tackle Erik Magnuson to their squad.
McGhin, a rookie undrafted free agent, signed with the Bills in May after a strong tryout at their rookie minicamp. With LaAdrian Waddle on injured reserve, McGhin was competing with Conor McDermott and De’Ondre Wesley to be one of the last men in the 53-man roster’s offensive line room or, barring that, a place on the practice squad.
Magnuson is a third-year pro, a former undrafted free agent from the Michigan Wolverines. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers, and played in eight games over his first two seasons (starting three). The 6’6” 305-lb lineman was a right tackle in college. Now Magnuson will hold down the fort on the back end of the roster, along with Jarron Jones and the aforementioned players.
