UPDATE (9:52 PM): The Bills have ruled White out with a quad contusion.
The Buffalo Bills nearly lost one of their best players in a meaningless football game, but the play looked much worse than it actually was. Cornerback Tre’Davious White was injured while defending a pass in the second quarter against the Detroit Lions, and while he is unlikely to return to the game, the injury apparently is nothing serious.
White dove along the sideline to defend a pass from Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford, landing awkwardly on his leg. Trainers immediately came over to check him out, and while it looked as if it may have been a knee injury, White was able to walk off the field under his own power. He then sat on the bench with ice on his thigh. The TV announcing crew later reported that there were no major concerns about White’s injury.
The Bills also lost cornerback Levi Wallace for a time in the second quarter. Wallace merely had the wind knocked out of him, however, and he returned to play.
