The Buffalo Bills returned to the practice field on Wednesday and were mostly injury-free after Sunday’s win over the New York Jets. There is some bad news, but we’ll see how it shakes out during the rest of the week.
The most important piece of news was nickel cornerback Taron Johnson did not practice with his hamstring injury. Sean McDermott called it day-to-day during his press briefing. That’s also how he described Andre Roberts’s quad injury last week and the WR/PR/KR did not play against the Jets. Roberts also sat out on Wednesday. Johnson was replaced by Siran Neal who struggled in pass coverage while Micah Hyde returned punts.
The only other bit of news was defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, who sat out of practice with an illness. No word yet on his prognosis for the rest of the week.
Tight end Tyler Kroft remains limited with his foot surgery rehab. He wore pads and took part in individual position drills, meaning he has a chance to play this weekend if he works his way up to team activities. He’s been replaced by third-round pick Dawson Knox and seventh rounder Tommy Sweeney.
Receiving veteran rest days were LB Lorenzo Alexander, WR John Brown, and OT Ty Nsekhe.
