In July, Kyle Peko’s wife, Giuliana, was diagnosed with stage III Hodgkin lymphoma, or cancer of the lymph nodes. The lymph nodes are part of the body’s immune system. On Wednesday, the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad defensive tackle was overjoyed to tell his teammates that the cancer was in full remission.
Giuliana announced it on Twitter Tuesday night:

Peko said she had a PET scan on Monday and “nothing lit up.” She was scheduled for 12 rounds of chemotherapy over the next six months but has completed four rounds.

Peko was one of the team’s final cuts and one of the first players re-signed to the practice squad at the beginning of September. He was signed by the Bills in 2018 after he spent two seasons with the Denver Broncos. He missed the opening day of Buffalo’s training camp this year after finding out the news just before his scheduled departure for St. John Fisher College.
The couple has been married since 2014 and have two children.
