This week, we discuss the Buffalo Bills’ offense as questions roll in on Zay Jones, Brian Daboll, Josh Allen, the team’s killer instinct, and much more. And we answer the question about fan negativity.
Featured question of the week
“Why are you being so negative?”
I challenge the fact that I’m being negative for writing a piece called “Bills win despite shortcomings.” The Bills had shortcomings. They let the New York Giants, a clearly inferior team, stick around in the second half instead of putting them away.
It started at the end of the second quarter, when Sean McDermott elected to kneel it out with 40 seconds and two timeouts with a 14-point lead. Instead of going for another blow, he sat on his laurels and the team (whether related or not) didn’t regain their edge until the Giants scored to make it a 7-point game.
And what if the Giants were a better team? Or a lucky break had gone their way?
Buffalo needs to learn how to close out games so when they get a chance against a better team, they are ready for the opportunity. The Giants weren’t dangerous when compared to upcoming games against the New England Patriots and Tennessee Titans and games after the bye won’t be so easy. Maintaining an edge for 60 minutes is going to be key, and Buffalo hasn’t done that yet.
So while they did a great job getting road wins in back-to-back weeks, I’m not content with the way they handled their business on Sunday. I’m happy they won. Being both things is okay.
