Buffalo Bills fans have asked for it, so here it is. Even though it’s very early in the race to the AFC playoffs, fans want to know who to root for to help the Bills make the playoffs. Here is your official list.
These are ranked in order of perceived importance.
Buffalo Bills over Cincinnati Bengals
Sunday, 1:00 PM Eastern
Duh. We want the Bills to get to 3-0 and keep pace in the AFC while also knocking down a potential opponent. It’s could come into play down the line for a multitude of tiebreakers, including record vs common opponents, AFC record, and maybe even head-to-head.
New York Jets over New England Patriots
Sunday, 1:00 PM Eastern
The Bills could be alone in first place at the end of the day. Of course, the Jets are 20-point underdogs so... GO GANG GREEN!
Jacksonville Jaguars over Tennessee Titans
Thursday, 8:20 PM Eastern
The Jaguars sit at 0-2 while the Titans are 1-1. If the AFC South beats up on each other and they all end up 8-8, that would be ideal. You would, of course, be perfectly reasonable if you wanted the Titans to stomp the Jaguars on national TV to get Doug Marrone fired, but that’s playing the game with your heart and not your head.
Los Angeles Rams over Cleveland Browns
Sunday, 8:20 PM Eastern
The AFC is full of contenders that could end up around .500. An NFC team knocking down an AFC team that could find themselves in the thick of it at the end is certainly helpful. Brace yourself...

There may come a time when we are rooting for the Dolphins, but today is certainly not that day. When they play the Patriots again, sure.
New York Giants over Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sunday, 4:05 PM Eastern
Buffalo has beaten the Giants, so it helps for strength of victory and strength of schedule tiebreakers.
Philadelphia Eagles over Detroit Lions
Sunday, 1:00 PM Eastern
Buffalo plays the Eagles, so this boosts their strength of schedule. It’s down the list of importance.
Washington over Chicago Bears
Monday, 8:15 PM Eastern
Buffalo plays Washington, so this boosts their strength of schedule. It’s down the list of importance.
Baltimore Ravens over Kansas City Chiefs
Sunday, 1:00 PM Eastern
Buffalo plays Baltimore, so this boosts the Bills’ strength of schedule. Since both teams are 2-0 and division leaders, it’s hard to pick a clear winner so we’ll go with this result.
Houston Texans vs. Los Angeles Chargers
Both AFC teams are 1-1 and Buffalo doesn’t play either one.
Carolina Panthers vs. Arizona Cardinals
New Orleans Saints vs. Seattle Seahawks
The Bills don’t play these NFC teams this year so the outcome won’t affect Buffalo’s case.
