It’s the first game of the year, featuring an all-new Buffalo Bills offense. Their opponent, the New York Jets, also overhauled their roster with a heavy-spending offseason. As you might’ve guessed, both teams are still trying to find their footing early on. The Jets lead the Bills 6-0, following the first two low-offense quarters.
The Buffalo Bills opened their game with a complete 180-degree shift from the offensive philosophies of years past. They spread out the field, shifted players left and right, and came out throwing. It took nearly 20 offensive plays before a Bills running back touched the ball. That didn’t translate to points, though. On Buffalo’s first drive, Dion Dawkins gave up a sack where Josh Allen fumbled. On the second drive, a low pass bounced of Cole Beasley’s hands into C.J. Mosley’s hands, leading to a 17-yard pick-six. The Bills would punt on their next two drives, and Allen and Mitch Morse fumbled a snap on a QB sneak on drive five. A tipped pass, with a minute remaining in the half, created an interception, Buffalo’s fourth turnover of the game.
Fortunately for Bills fans, the Jets are struggling just as badly. The scoring margin is only six points because rookie kicker Kaare Vedvik missed his extra point. The Jets punted on their first four drives, including two three-and-outs. They started their final drive of the half at midfield, but it ended with a missed field goal. It’s still anyone’s game.
Here’s your discussion thread for the rest of the game. Go Bills!
