As the premier showcase exhibition for NFL Draft prospects, the Senior Bowl is the go-to postseason event for scouts, directors of player personnel, and general managers. Typically, the game features seniors and graduated juniors, all expecting to at least be drafted during the April festivities. Usually the game also features a handful of prospects hoping to hear their name called on the draft’s first night (and this year ride a boat). Each practice beforehand, as well as the game itself, offers NFL hopefuls the opportunity to raise their draft stock to new heights by practicing against the best-of-the-best, in front of NFL talent evaluators.
In Brandon Beane’s first few years, he has regularly gone to the Senior Bowl and found draftable players. Last year, two of the teams’ draft selections played in the game—Jaquan Johnson and Tommy Sweeney—and that’s not including undrafted free agents. It’s fair to say that more than a couple of the players down in Mobile will be starting their careers in Buffalo very soon.
