Per ESPN reporter Chris Mortenson, the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs will play on Monday, October 19, at 5 PM. This comes after speculation regarding not only the Bills-Chiefs game, but Buffalo’s Week 5 matchup with the Tennessee Titans, which is scheduled to be played on Tuesday, October 13, at 7 PM.
Buffalo and Kansas City were supposed to play on Thursday night to kick off Week 6. However, thanks to a total of 24 positive COVID-19 tests among players and personnel within the Titans organization, the Bills’ Week 5 game was moved to Tuesday night. The Bills obviously couldn’t play twice in as many days, so the NFL had to move the Chiefs game.
This may all be contingent upon the Tuesday night game actually happening, though it would be awfully difficult for the league to pivot back to a Bills-Chiefs Thursday Night Football game. The league definitely wants two top-end AFC teams in primetime, so a move to Monday night makes sense.
As this is a fluid situation, we will have more information if and when it comes available.
