The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs face off late this afternoon with the first of two Monday games today. The Bills and Chiefs kick off at 5 p.m. EDT on FOX, while the originally scheduled MNF broadcast between the Dallas Cowboys and the Arizona Cardinals remains on ESPN at 8:15.

The Bills are coming off an embarrassing road loss against the Tennessee Titans, as they were outplayed, outcoached, and outlasted in a 42-16 drubbing last Tuesday. The Chiefs are also coming off a loss, this one a 40-32 defeat at the hands of the Las Vegas Raiders. Both teams have the motivation to avoid a second consecutive loss, and both teams have excellent young quarterbacks.

For the Chiefs, it’s the electric Patrick Mahomes, whose connection to the Bills will undoubtedly be mentioned numerous times during tonight’s broadcast. The Chiefs selected Mahomes with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft after making a trade with the Bills, who ultimately selected cornerback Tre’Davious White with Kansas City’s pick, No. 27 overall in that draft.

Buffalo acquired a second first-round pick from the Chiefs, and they used that pick in a series of trades to move up in the 2018 NFL Draft to select their quarterback, Josh Allen, with the No. 7 overall pick that year. In the early going of the 2020 season, Allen is an MVP candidate, while Mahomes already has a league MVP and Super Bowl trophy on his resume.

This is your first-half open thread, ladies and gentlemen. Go Bills!
