The Speed Option: A quick preview of the New York Jets

Round two of Jets vs. Bills

NFL: New York Jets at Buffalo Bills Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

Fresh off back-to-back demoralizing losses to two of the AFC’s elite teams, the Buffalo Bills travel to New Jersey to take on the lifeless New York Jets. Here’s how the Jets have been faring this season as well updates on their coaching staff and roster.

2020 Season

The Jets have yet to secure a win this season and stand at 0-6. They’re the last remaining winless team in the NFL thanks to the Atlanta Falcons and the Jets’ roommates (New York Giants) getting their first wins last week. On top of a winless record, the Jets released expensive star running back Le’Veon Bell and have had to bench Sam Darnold in favor of Joe Flacco for multiple games due to injury.

Head Coach

Adam Gase is somehow still the coach of the New York Jets. His record with the team is 7-15 (0.318 W-L%) and his career regular-season record is 30-40 (0.429). At least Jets fans can rest easy knowing that he is a “brilliant offensive mind.”

Offensive Coordinator

As you may recall, Dowell Loggains followed Gase from Miami to New Jersey to be his OC. He doesn’t seem to have learned much from his brilliant head coach, as his units rank 30th in yards per game and 32nd in points per game. They’re not even close to 31st either—the Giants rank 31st and they have score 4.3 points per game more than the Jets.

Defensive Coordinator

Former Buffalo Bills head coach Gregg Williams remains Gase’s defensive coordinator. He’s doing much better than Loggains, as his units rank 20th in yards per game allowed and 29th in points per game allowed. He also leads the Jets’ coaching staff in shots fired at the head coach.
