The Buffalo Bills head to New Jersey on Sunday to face the New York Jets, but they could be missing some key contributors this week. Today’s edition of Four Downs takes a closer look at the Bills’ injury situation, the return of Sam Darnold, and much more.
Injury concerns mounting
While many though Sunday’s game would be a relatively easy contest for the Bills, the number of injuries piling up in Orchard Park is a bit concerning. Four starters have already been ruled out for Sunday—Josh Norman, John Brown, Dawson Knox and Cody Ford. Tre’Davious White and Matt Milano are both listed as questionable, which would leave a huge hole in the Bills’ defense on Sunday.
Cam Lewis is also listed as questionable, and Levi Wallace remains on injured reserve. The Jets may be the ideal opponent for a bounce-back game, but not when all of your cornerbacks are injured.
Return of Darnold?
The Jets have had enough issues to deal with this season, and a sprained shoulder has caused Sam Darnold to miss the last two games. the USC product could return on Sunday to face a defense in need of a rebound. Despite the injuries listed above, this can be a redemption game for the Bills’ defensive line. Defensive coordinator/assistant head coach Leslie Frazier’s maligned unit had three sacks and five QB hits during Week 1, and Bills fans would love to see the defensive line harass Darnold once again on Sunday.
Pod of the Week
In case you did not catch it, Buffalo Rumblings added a new show to the line-up this week. Code of Conduct is hosted by J. Spence, with his first episode on Buffalo Rumblings debuting this week. Be sure to check it out as he brings his unique perspective to everything Bills.
Prediction - Bills 35, Jets 24
This one may feel a little too close for comfort for Bills fans on Sunday. Ultimately the Buffalo offense is too much for the New York defense, with Josh Allen leading the Bills to victory. Expect another big day for Stefon Diggs, as he should find success against the Jets’ secondary.
