NFL facilities will close November 3rd for election voting

On what is normally an off day for players, the NFL will close team facilities.

Matt Warren is Associate Director of NFL coverage for SB Nation and previously covered the Bills for Buffalo Rumblings for more than a decade.

The NFL and NFLPA announced in a joint press release on Tuesday that they are taking steps to ensure that all team personnel have the chance to vote in this year’s election.

Every team is different, but Tuesdays are normally the off day for players anyway if the team plays on Sunday. This will ensure that not just players, but all members of the team in what has become a 24-7 business can vote.

All NFL, NFLPA and club facilities will be closed on Tuesday, November 3, to ensure that every member of the NFL family has an opportunity to exercise the right to vote and may safely support voting efforts in their communities.

After initiatives this offseason 90% of all NFL players are now registered to vote according to stats released from the players’ union and several team facilities around the league have been turned into early voting centers.

In New York State, early voting only became an option a year ago and this is the first presidential election where early voting is available. The Buffalo Bills are not one of the teams with an early voting location on site. The Orchard Park Community Activity Center is just over a mile and a half from Bills Stadium.
