Reasons for Optimism

As we move into the final stretch, I'm very optimistic about the Bills. Here are my reasons why:

  1. We can compete with anybody. The only game that really got away from us was the Titans game. In my opinion, that was a very fluky/ unlucky game where mistakes were made that constantly gave the Titans excellent field position. I think that one was an outlier and the Bills would be much more competitive against the Titans if they were to play again. We hung in there with the Chiefs until the end, and the Cardinals got away with one. I think the Bills would have a chance to beat any of the teams that they lost to if they were to play again. Those are the losses. What about the wins? The Bills have 3 wins against teams that NFL.com ranks in the top 10 (Rams, Seahawks, Raiders) Plus a win against a very solid Dolphins team.
  2. Is the defense is coming around? I didn't look up stats to back this up, but in the last few games it seems like the defense is playing with some more passion. They seem to be making more sure tackles and swarming to the ball - If the first guy misses, the next guy cleans up. They've also been getting more pressure on the quarterback. Is this due to individual effort or scheming? Not to mention, we'll have Milano coming back from injury soon.
  3. Hope for the run game. Singletary is the same guy as last year. Daboll is still the OC. Moss > Gore. Why the huge drop off? Could it be because we haven't had out 5 best offensive linemen on the field at the same time all year? We have guys coming back from injury. I'm excited to see Dawkins, Feliciano, Morse, Ford, and D Williams on the field at the same time. Will this be the solution?
  4. The heavy lifting has already been done. 70% of the the Bills opponents before the bye currently have winning records. 33% of their upcoming opponents have winning records.
  5. We have a franchise QB. For the first time in a quarter century, we have a legitimate franchise QB who can carry the team.
In summary, we're already in great position to win the division, but if my run game and defensive hopes come true, I think we can make a deep run. What are your thoughts?
