Buffalo Bills wide receiver John Brown will miss at least the next three games as he makes his way back from multiple leg injuries. Rookie fourth-round pick Gabriel Davis will see the bulk of Brown’s playing time but the Bills have also elevated Jake Kumerow off the practice squad for this week.
This time, it’s an ankle injury, but calf and other leg ailments have really hampered him this season. He has missed two games prior to this stop on injured reserve.
Brown previously missed Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans, Week 7 against the New York Jets, and will now miss Weeks 12 through 14 even after having the bye week to get healthy. While his snap counts remain in the low 70s to mid 80s in percentage of snaps, that’s a clear downward progression from the mid-to-upper 90s from the beginning of the season and 2019.
Davis is not as polished as Brown, but has been productive in his playing time. Brown has 29 catches for 386 yards in eight games this season with two touchdowns. Davis, who has three touchdowns, has 19 receptions for 275 yards as the fourth WR.
Kumerow played three offensive snaps during his two previous call ups to the active roster. He was used much more on special teams, where he’s played 33 snaps.
