Tremaine Edmunds, Taron Johnson limited as Buffalo Bills prepare for Denver Broncos

A few key injuries to watch on a short week.

The Buffalo Bills emerged mostly healthy from their win against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but face a shortened practice week ahead of Saturday’s game with the Denver Broncos. A few key players were listed as injuries in Tuesday’s walkthrough practice report, and their statuses will be important to track leading into the game.

First up is Taron Johnson, who suffered a concussion in the third quarter of the game. The team listed him as “limited” on Tuesday, which is a positive sign for his advancement through the concussion protocol. If he’s a full participant by Thursday, the Bills might be satisfied with playing him in the game, but the safe bet is to take a week off.

Tremaine Edmunds (foot) is a new name on the injury report, and he was limited on Tuesday. Edmunds is obviously a critical part of the Bills’ defense, but with Matt Milano and Tyrel Dodson healthy, they have some flexibility at the position. We’ll have a better sense for the injury severity on Wednesday.

Lee Smith (knee) was also limited on Tuesday. The Bills have Tyler Kroft waiting in the wings if Smith can’t play, though their skillsets are different.

Jaquan Johnson (ankle) is now into his second week of not practicing. We don’t know the exact injury here, but a moderate ankle sprain can take three or more weeks to heal up, so we’re in wait-and-see mode here.

Josh Allen (knee/ankle) continues to be listed on the injury report, and is still a full participant in practice. No worries here.

With this practice report, we also have a couple positive updates on players spotted during the game. Dawson Knox seemed to suffer a stinger during the game, and it clearly didn’t linger after Sunday night. Mitch Morse had an elbow issue that needed stabilizing wraps, but the Bills didn’t feel the need to mention it today.
