Fresh off clinching the AFC East Division title, the Buffalo Bills will travel to Foxborough to face the former division champs, the New England Patriots. Here’s an update on how the Pats’ worst season in many years is going.
2020 Season Summary
The Patriots are 6-8 this season and are third in the AFC East. They were officially eliminated from playoff contention with their Week 15 loss to the Miami Dolphins. It will be the first postseason they have missed since 2008,
Head Coach
Bill Belichick is still the head coach in New England. This season will be his worst season with the Patriots since he went 5-11 in 2000—his first season with the Pats.
Offensive Coordinator
Josh McDaniels is in his 12th season as the OC in New England. Those 12 seasons were broken up by two seasons as the Denver Broncos’ head coach and one season as the St. Louis Rams’ offensive coordinator. His 2020 Patriots offense is ranked 24th in yards per game and 27th in points per game.
Defensive Coordinator
The Patriots do not have a named defensive coordinator as Bill Belichick handles most of those duties. Stephen Belichick and Jerod Mayo are the team’s highest-ranking defensive assistants. The Patriots currently rank 11th in yards allowed per game and seventh in points allowed per game.
