With the 188th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills have drafted Tyler Bass, a kicker from Georgia Southern. Bass, who played four years for the Eagles, will now compete with longtime veteran Stephen Hauschka to be Buffalo’s place kicker this year.
Bass took over as his team’s full-time kicker in 2017, where he went 15-of-19 on field goals and 27-of-28 on extra points. In 2018, he was a first-team All-Conference selection when he converted 19-of-21 field goals and went a perfect 45-of-45 on extra points. In 2019, he set a school record with 20 field goals, but also missed eight attempts. He did convert 36-of-36 extra points.
Bass’s career long for field goal conversions was 50 yards, and he finished his career with 79.41% of his field goals successful. He had 73.9 percent of his kickoffs land as touchbacks. At the Senior Bowl, he was a standout with his powerful leg, so he may be able to handle the weather in Buffalo just fine.
