2017 NFL Re-Draft: Two Buffalo Bills move up in first round

The Bills made some good picks in 2017.

Matt Warren is Associate Director of NFL coverage for SB Nation and previously covered the Bills for Buffalo Rumblings for more than a decade.

The Buffalo Bills did a nice job in the 2017 NFL Draft of adding talent, despite it being head coach Sean McDermott’s first time in the big chair and general manager Doug Whaley being on his way out. The point was hit home this week, as the SB Nation NFL bloggers re-picked the first two rounds of the draft. Three Bills players went in the first two rounds—just like the actual draft—but two of them moved up in the first round.

Instead of being selected at pick 27, Tre’Davious White parlayed his first-team All-Pro selection into the number 7 overall pick. Not only would Buffalo not be able to add a first-round pick plus Tre, they would have had to trade up three spots in order to take him.

Later in the first round, Dion Dawkins was picked by the Atlanta Falcons at pick 31. He moves up an entire round as the Bills were able to snag him with the 63rd pick in 2017. It is a great recognition of what he’s been able to do in the NFL that he’s the third offensive tackle off the board following Ryan Ramczyk (9 overall) and Taylor Moton (23).

Here is the complete first round:
