The Buffalo Bills hope to continue where they left off in 2019 and boast one of the NFL’s top rated defenses during the 2020 season. The club returns its top six tacklers from last season, which steers us to look at the top choices to lead the team in tackles this year.
Tremaine Edmunds
The starting middle linebacker for the Bills is set to enter his third season in the NFL, even though he just turned 22 years old. Edmunds led the Bills in total tackles in each of the past two seasons, pacing the team with 115 in 2020 (66 solo, 49 assists). As one of the rising defensive stars across the league, Edmunds is a safe bet to lead the team in tackles again this season.
Jordan Poyer
Poyer led the Bills with 71 solo tackles during the 2019 season. His 107 combined tackles placed him second on the roster, making him a top contender to unseat Edmunds. Poyer plays close to 100% of the defensive snaps in each game, which will give him plenty of opportunities in 2020.
Matt Milano
The third member of the Bills’ defense to top 100 tackles in 2019 is linebacker Matt Milano. The fourth-year product from Boston College is set to enter his contract year, and may sign a lucrative extension to stay in Buffalo this offseason. Contract year or not, Milano is expected to compete for the position as the team’s leading tackler in 2020.
