The Speed Option: Baltimore Ravens head north for the divisional round

The Battle of the 2018 Draft Class QBs

NFL: Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

After defeating the Indianapolis Colts on Saturday, the Buffalo Bills and their fans were able to sit back and watch the rest of Super Wild Card Weekend and see who they would face. When the Cleveland Browns upset the Pittsburgh Steelers in the final game of the weekend it was decided that the Baltimore Ravens would be the lucky team to head to Bills Stadium and try to knock off the No. 2 seed Buffalo Bills. Here’s a quick overview of the Ravens and their season to date.

2020 Season Summary

The Ravens finished the regular season with an 11-5 record, which placed them third in the AFC North behind the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cleveland Browns. The Ravens claimed the sixth seed in the AFC playoff bracket and had to travel to Nashville to face the Tennessee Titans for the Wild Card round. After going down 10-0 early, the Ravens came back and beat the Titans 20-13.

Head Coach

John Harbaugh is in his 13th season as the head coach of the Ravens. Over those 13 seasons he has a 129-79 (.620 W-L percentage) regular season record and a 11-7 (.611 W-L percentage) playoff record. Four of those playoff wins came during the Ravens’ 2012 Super Bowl championship run.

Offensive Coordinator

Bills fans will recognize the Ravens’ offensive coordinator when NBC gives him some face time on Saturday night. Former Bills OC, Greg Roman, is calling the plays for the Ravens and has been for the past two seasons. Roman’s offense ranked 19th in yards per game and seventh in points per game in the 2020 regular season.

Defensive Coordinator

Don “Wink” Martindale is in his third season running the defense for Baltimore. He’s been with the Ravens’ organization since 2012—spending the first six seasons as a linebackers coach. Wink’s defense ranked seventh in yards allowed per game and second in points allowed per game this season.
