Buffalo Bills sweep AFC East for first time ever en route to 13-3 record

The Bills put their stamp on the AFC East title.

Matt Warren is Associate Director of NFL coverage for SB Nation and previously covered the Bills for Buffalo Rumblings for more than a decade.

The Buffalo Bills went 6-0 against the AFC East during the 2020 season, securing their first division sweep in team history.

The Bills have beaten the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, and New York Jets twice each in a season before (1988), but lost to the Indianapolis Colts that year. They went 7-1 in the AFC East four times from 1988 to 1993 but never went undefeated in the division.

Buffalo won the AFC East for the first time in 25 years, dethroning the Patriots and holding off the Dolphins, who had a bit of a mid-year surge. The Jets were 0-13 before winning two straight games and finishing the year 2-14. New England finishes the season at 7-9; a rare losing record. The Dolphins can still back into the playoffs, but a 10-6 record usually would have gotten them there.

At 13-3, the Bills are back to the prolific ways of their Super Bowl runs.
