Last year, the Tennessee Titans dealt with a rampant COVID outbreak during their regular season, forcing a postponement of several of their games. Eventually, the Buffalo Bills’ game against the Titans fell to a Tuesday night. Even though Tennessee hadn’t been able to legally practice for ten days, they shellacked Buffalo in front of a wide audience, 42-16, after pulling away in the second quarter.
Fast forward to 2021, and the Bills are coming off a commanding performance over the reigning AFC-Champion Kansas City Chiefs. Buffalo’s defense is stout, their offense is potent, and their coaching has been stellar. The Titans have been a little all over the place, with a top-ten offense but a defense lacking in multiple areas. They lost to the New York Jets two weeks ago but beat the Seattle Seahawks earlier in the season.
Tennessee’s offense once again goes through Derrick Henry, who leads the league in rushing attempts and yards and touchdowns. Ryan Tannehill has been efficient but not great. Harold Landry paces the defense and has 4.5 sacks on the year and 28 tackles.
This is the type of game Buffalo should win — and they are favored in the contest — but it also sets up right before their bye and is the second straight prime-time game against their biggest rival. It’s prime time for a prime-time letdown and the team will need to guard against it.
