The Buffalo Bills host the Houston Texans this afternoon in what should be a rainy day. This will be the second consecutive week that some weather might impact the game, as last week saw blustery conditions that some thought could limit the passing game.
Quarterback Josh Allen was unfazed by the weather, as he threw for 358 yards and four touchdowns in last week’s 43-21 victory over the Washington Football Team. Regardless of the rain today, Allen should be plenty comfortable slinging the old pigskin around Highmark Stadium.
Rookie Davis Mills makes his first career start on the road and second overall just one week after piloting the Texans to a 24-9 loss at home against the Carolina Panthers last week. Mills is Tyrod Taylor’s backup, but the former Buffalo Pro Bowl quarterback is out this week thanks to a hamstring injury.
The Bills are big favorites in this game, but they’ll be without some important players on both offense and defense this week. If they want to prove that they are a legitimate contender, though, this is the kind of game Buffalo needs to win regardless of who’s healthy.
