Four Downs: Is this the Cody Ford redemption game?

NFL: Houston Texans at Buffalo Bills Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

The Buffalo Bills are back on the road, traveling to Florida to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. The latest edition of Four Downs has plenty of information to get you ready for kickoff on Sunday, including my thoughts on Cody Ford and his chance at redemption in Jacksonville.

Is this the Cody Ford redemption game?

I thought that Cody Ford would have gotten the start last week once Spencer Brown was ruled out against the Miami Dolphins. That was not the case, as the Bills opted to start Ike Boettger (while moving around a few pieces in the lineup). Brown and Jon Feliciano have now been ruled out for Sunday’s game, which should mean that Cody Ford gets another shot at starting in Jacksonville. While Ford has not lived up to expectations, it is still my hope that his shift to a reserve role could provide a bit of a spark. Offensive guard hasn’t necessarily been a strength for the Bills, a strong showing on Sunday could be a step towards Ford regaining a starting position.

The Bills a big favorite once again

The betting lines have the Buffalo Bills as a big favorite (-14.5) on the road this weekend over the Jaguars. This is the second weekend in the row that the Bills are a double-digit favorite, and the third time this season (they were -19 vs. the Houston Texans in Week 4).

Podcast of the Week

This week I was fortunate enough to catch up with Joe Marino on Locked On Bills. We talked a bit about our expectations for Sunday, the Bills’ running game, and the history between these two franchises. It is always great catching up with Joe, and you can listen to the episode here.

Prediction - Bills 35, Jaguars 7

This is what I consider a “leave no doubt” game for the Bills. Buffalo should dominate the game from start to finish, as the Jaguars go through the growing pains of a rebuild. The Buffalo defense makes life difficult for Trevor Lawrence on Sunday in the convincing victory.
