Rob Gronkowski considered offer from Buffalo Bills, per report

Was Rob Gronkowski close to playing for his hometown team?

According to Michael Silver, Western New York was at one point a consideration for star tight end Rob Gronkowski, who Buffalo Bills fans might recall from his days with the New England Patriots. Gronkowski signed another contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers following their Super Bowl victory this past season, but prior to his decision to reunite with his Florida teammates “Gronkowski considered a similar offer from the Bills... his hometown team.”

Silver is of course referencing the fact that the Gronkowski family hails from Amherst, NY.

Rob Gronkowski would have likely been a polarizing addition to the Buffalo Bills. Aside from terrorizing the Bills on the field for years, he is infamous for one of the latest hits imaginable on Tre’Davious White. Bills fans known for their passion and loyalty have largely not forgotten that low point of Gronkowski’s career.

Controversy aside, there would be no denying the talent part of the acquisition. Silver posits that this indicates the Bills are in the market for a tight end. Last offseason, they had Greg Olsen in for a visit and then didn’t add another tight end after Olsen signed with the Seattle Seahawks.
