Vernon Butler restructure will save the Buffalo Bills $2 million in cap space in 2021

Matt Warren is Associate Director of NFL coverage for SB Nation and previously covered the Bills for Buffalo Rumblings for more than a decade.

When the Buffalo Bills restructured the contract of defensive tackle Vernon Butler, we weren’t exactly sure what that would mean. Now Spotrac has updated their page with the information so we thought we would pass it along.

Instead of making $5.5 million million in salary in 2021, that’s been slashed to $3.5 million. It is just a straight $2 million pay cut. His salary cap number goes down by that much, as well. No other changes were made to the structure in 2021, the final year of his deal.

You can read all the previous contract details in our original article from 2020 here.
