Four Downs: What about cornerback depth for the Bills?

I’m still concerned with the Bills’ lack of depth at CB

NFL: Washington Football Team at San Francisco 49ers Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Another week, and another edition of Four Downs is here for fans of the Buffalo Bills. I have plenty of thoughts on cornerback depth, Julio Jones, and much more that you can check out below.

What about cornerback?

The Bills have made roster additions over the past couple of weeks, most recently with the signing of DT Treyvon Hester. While each of these signings are nice when it comes to adding depth, I keep asking myself about the plan at cornerback. My thoughts that the Bills might sign Steven Nelson or Richard Sherman are long gone based on the limited cap space, but I would hope the team brings in additional depth to compete during training camp. the Bills have three roster spots remaining to get to 91, and I hope cornerback is addressed in those last three spots.

Would the Bills trade for Julio Jones?

In a word, no, I do not think they would. But there has certainly been some fun discussion from Bills fans on Twitter this week around the Atlanta Falcons star. Unfortunately Jones has a $15.4 million cap hit for 2021, and might be on the downside of his career. While it is certainly fun to speculate what the Bills’ offense would look like with Jones, I just can’t see a scenario where the team would make this move.

Pod of the Week

One of my favorite listens this week came from Bruce Nolan, and his Friday podcast with WGR 550 AM’s Nate Geary. the guys got together to discuss some potential concerns for the 2021 Bills, in a realistic and rational fashion. Who knew that was even possible?

Embedded is back!

One of my favorite features from BuffaloBills.com is the Embedded video series. The team offered an inside look at the 2021 draft in the first episode of this season, and it is always an enjoyable watch. Seeing the reactions from Gregory Rousseau and Carlos Basham Jr. was fun to relive—and head coach Sean McDermott’s Raisin Bran moment was priceless. While there is still plenty of time until training camp starts, Embedded is a fun distraction for all Bills fans.
