The Buffalo Bills already appear set at the top of their wide receiver depth chart with All-Pros Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley, along with veteran Emanuel Sanders and emerging second-year pro Gabriel Davis. But despite this wealth of talent, the Bills have been linked to a future Hall of Fame wide receiver: Julio Jones of the Atlanta Falcons.
On the latest episode of the Billieve Podcast, hosts John Boccacino and Jamie D’Amico speculate on whether general manager Brandon Beane and the Bills should make a play for Jones, the disgruntled 32-year-old wide receiver who has been rumored to want out of Atlanta after catching 848 passes for 12,896 yards and 60 touchdowns during his first ten years in the league.
Jones would no doubt be an improvement to any wide receiver corps in the NFL, but with the Bills being legit Super Bowl contenders, does it make sense to acquire him?
Our podcasters examine the cap hit that would come with trading for Jones (likely more than $20 million in 2021), what Buffalo would have to give up to acquire him, how Jones would fit in with Buffalo’s talented wide receiver room, and whether the Bills would be best served spending all of this capital on a deal for Jones.
After weighing the pros and cons of trading for Jones, Boccacino and D’Amico offer up whether they would make the trade. Now, it’s your turn. If you ran the Bills, would you make a deal for Jones, or are there better areas for the Bills to focus their resources on heading into the 2021 season?
