While the start of the 2021 NFL season feels like it’s in the distant future, fantasy football drafts will be here before we know it. This series will take an early look at the Buffalo Bills and some fantasy football expectations for this season.
Fans of the Buffalo Bills had high expectations for Stefon Diggs in 2020, but even the most optimistic members of Bills Mafia may have been surprised by the wide receiver’s output. Diggs was a welcome addition to the Bills, and a difference maker for fantasy football owners across the country.
During the 2020 season, Diggs led the NFL in receptions (127) and yards (1,535) while also catching eight touchdown passes. Diggs was a top-five receiver across all formats, and enters 2021 with lofty expectations. ESPN’s panel of fantasy experts have Diggs ranked third in the league behind Tyreek Hill and Davante Adams, and just ahead of DeAndre Hopkins and A.J. Brown. Diggs will likely be a second- or third-round selection in most drafts this year, as the premium pass catchers usually get picked after the top running backs in the first round.
While some may worry about a regression from Diggs during his second season in Buffalo, the additional weapons on offense (Cole Beasley, Gabriel Davis, Emmanuel Sanders) ensure that defenses can’t pay too close attention to Diggs. I’m still drafting Diggs with confidence and expecting great things again in 2021.
