Tyler Bass is a great option for fantasy football owners in 2021

The 2020 draft pick made an impact last season

While the start of the 2021 NFL season feels like it’s in the distant future, fantasy football drafts will be here before we know it. This series will take an early look at the Buffalo Bills and some fantasy football expectations for this season.

While kickers will never be the most important position in fantasy football, it is certainly important to have a reliable one on your roster. Buffalo Bills rookie Tyler Bass proved to be one of fantasy’s top kickers last season, and expectations will be high for him this year.

According to Fantasy Pros, Bass (157 points) was the third-highest-scoring kicker in football last year behind Jason Sanders (172 points for the Miami Dolphins) and Younghoe Koo (168 points for the Atlanta Falcons). Bass was reliable connecting on extra points (57-59), and shook off some early season woes to hit on 82.4 percent of his field goals (28-34).

Bass also brings the advantage of being able to hit field goals from 50+ yards, making four of six attempts last season. This included a 58-yard bomb against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10. Since many leagues give bonus points for field goals made from 50+, it is an added incentive to have Bass on your roster this season.

While Bass will be expected to produce similar results in 2021, I am still not advocating him earlier than needed in drafts. The last couple of rounds can be reserved for kickers and defense/ST, and if you can draft Bass there I would highly recommend it.
